KOPIPES!
So what’s new?
My netbook! Heh. Ye, masih lagi poyo dan jakun dengan gadget baru.
Anyway, things are back to normal, not that it was abnormal before… but you know, the party is over, I am 31 years old, ok… move on already!
So… from my last post to the moment I am typing this, my life basically revolved around:
My Netbook
It is super cool, ok? It is what I’ve imagined! The sleek and sexy brushed aluminium casing does give it an expensive look, unlike the typical plastic looking netbooks out there. Even Samsung NC10 looked like a toy next to this baby! So I am fully satisfied with the built and look.
The screen is crisp and bright and oh! The resolution of 1024 x 576 (a true wide screen ratio of 16:9) is definitely nice. Some people were complaining that the resolution is smaller than standard netbook (1024 x 600), but to me I didn’t see any difference. In fact, since I already tried Samsung NC10 for few days before and I also played my Mousehunt with it, I think with HP Mininote 2140, I saw more than the latter. Because with Samsung NC10, I only see the header of Mousehunt and with HP 2140, I’ve seen the header and my catch logs (the latest catch summary), if you play Mousehunt, you know what I mean.
The keyboard is also very nice. Of course I still over estimated the distance of the keys when I typed but it is just a matter of getting used to it. The mouse pad and the literally left and right click buttons are also something you need to get used to. But honestly, it is not something you’d stressed about. Especially when Michal is going to buy me a new matching coloured wireless mouse (with mini transiver) soon, teehehe.
The processor? Since it is very new, I’d say it is faster than my notebook at work that runs on Intel Centrino Core Duo 2.0 GHz and 2GB RAM (Windows Vista Home Basic), haha! But in all fairness, my netbook is running on Intel Atom 1.6GHz, 2GB RAM (Windows Vista Home Basic) and I already did some Vista optimization that you could find HERE. But so far so good and I’m not going to install some heavy crap in it anyways.
The sound quality is acceptable, not too loud but not mini like its name either I’ve been watching streaming Japanese drama on my bed without any problem, so I am happy. I’ve also downloaded Mobipocket Reader and now I have all the ebooks that you could find in my blog in there. Teehehe. *smiling blissfully*
The only real downside? Well, I found two stuck pixel at the bottom of my screen!!! It is not dead because one is blue and one is green. I didn’t realise it at first since you only see it if the background is dark. So one tiny green dot is on top of my taskbar, which obviously make it more obvious, pun intended! There is a fix though… I’ve been running JScreenFix for a while and I am happy that 1 dot is gone. Now there is only 1 dot left, the green one on my taskbar but the last I checked, it is now smaller.
If you have it on your LCD screen, another way to do it is to lightly massage the dot. But since my HP 2140 has this protective layer (sort of PDA like), I can’t really poke the LCD and the stubborn one is really at the bottom edge… I am worried that I’d break it if I pushed too hard!
So, please please pray that it will go away eventually because I can’t really exchange the product now when there is only 1 dot left, haha! HP (in fact all manufacturers) has some policy on screen defect. Honestly, HP policy is better because like Asus, defected pixel allowed is 4! So you could only exchange it if you have 5 or more teehehe.
Other than my precious netbook, 3 of the DVD I ordered arrived yesterday:
1. Meet Joe Black / Legends of the Fall / The Devil’s Own - 3 movies in 1 Box Set
2. Sleepers
3. Borat: Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan
Another 2 which I hope will arrive today:
1. Spy Game
2. The Mexican
I love Play.com especially when buying from there means the summary at the back of the DVD box is in English too, haha! Of course I’ve watched the movies before but I’m in collecting mode now… and it’s Brad Pitt *cair*
Except, of course for Borat That is so not Brad Pitt. We watched it last night and we laughed like mad yet again. Borat memang keji, cam puki gila lawak.
Oklah, that’s all. I invited a colleague and his gf for dinner on Sunday. I finally decided to do Nasi Lemak with Rendang Ayam. He even said just cook it like I always do, don’t lessen the hotness or whatever because he could stand spicy food.
We’ll see.
PS: Still no pictures. Too busy playing with it!
